Do you recall those Smartie tubes given to parents at the New Parents Evening in June? The sweets were for you to enjoy and while doing so you can help us raise funds for the school by re-filling the empty tube with coins (suggestion 20p).
All filled Smartie tubes should be labelled with your son’s name and tutor group, e.g. A Salisbury, 7M and returned to the school reception or form Tutor by Friday 14th of September 2018 to be in the running for both individual and tutor group prizes: The Tutor group that raises the most money will win the bragging rights and a tub of chocolates and the boy who raises the most money will win a Gift Voucher… Keep Saving!
“I went to see Much Ado About Nothing yesterday evening and found it thoroughly enjoyable. The standard of acting was excellent and the atmosphere amazing. It was the first time I had taken 3 twelve-year-old boys to see a Shakespeare play and they enjoyed it too. Please pass on my delight to the cast and school who did such a fine job”.
"Thank you for a very entertaining evening last week - decent food, good company and a very interesting speaker." (Tim)
"(We) had a most enjoyable evening on Friday and thanks for organising the evening" (Richard)
Further to the decision made to cancel the BWS Christmas Market at Bishop Wordsworth’s School, BWSPA was offered a very exciting opportunity to take part in the Salisbury Christmas Market, selling gingerbread tree decorations and giant gingerbread hearts which could be personalised with a message. We also took the strain out of preparing for Christmas by offering a gift wrapping service.
Penny and her Elves at the BWSPA Salisbury Christmas Market Chalet.
Here are some photos of the great team of volunteers managing the Christmas Car Parking.

A fun challenge for new boys – and reaping their reward!
Congratulations to 7O!
A fun way for new parents to get to know other parents in their boy’s Tutor Groups.
We supported the school in holding an exciting Founders Day this year in celebration of Bishop Wordsworth’s School - Past, Present & Future.
The Summer Draw took at the Founders Day Fete. 1st Prize £250, 2nd Prize Hamper and 3rd Prize Amazon Voucher – and many more exciting prizes!
Guest Speaker, professional stunt man Glenn Marks will discuss how falls from 190ft, multiple car crashes, fire burns, fighting and being run over are all in a day’s work! He has featured in over 43 major films including Robin Hood: Prince of thieves,
Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Derailed, X-Men and The Wolfman and has also worked on many television productions and music pop promo videos.
Glenn now lives in Wiltshire with his family – including Bertha, their very own armoured tank!
This exciting evening included supper, a bar and a raffle.
We were fortunate that once again the weather stayed dry!
The production was very much enjoyed – “Unbelievably good fun tonight - I'm still laughing!!!!”, “Fab evening!
Brilliant production - we were still laughing on our way home” and “Excellent entertainment.
The energy and enthusiasm was infectious and the production skilful........even the rain held off!
Thoroughly enjoyed it”.
The joint BWS/SWGS Christmas Fair was held on Saturday 19th November.
With over six hundred people through the door and over £3,000 raised it was a great day for both schools for fund raising and for the real sense of community spirit it brings.
Many thanks to all those volunteers who made it such a success. Huge thanks to all the teachers and staff who supported the event, to the parents and boys and girls from both schools including all those who took part in the choirs and musical entertainment on the day and of course our thanks to all the brilliant stallholders.
The hall looked and felt festive - it was a great place to kick off Christmas shopping. The hall even smelt like Christmas with the mulled wine and mince pies stall doing good business.
Many thanks again to all those who supported both schools - gave your time - donated - and spent your money - thank you!
Here is a selection of fabulous photos kindly taken by Philip Olney
The BWSPA Founder's Day Fair was held on Saturday 25th April. The weather stayed fine as stalls did a brisk trade. The fair was attended by many of the boys and their parents following the Founder's Day Cathedral Service.
