Potentially the toughest test of the season and a real banana skin for the boys, Millfield have always been one of our archest rivals and remained unbeaten by us on a tennis court at any level.
Until this fixture....
In the knowledge they were two matches from National Finals the boys put in a great shift to topple one of the top sporting schools in the country. Rident and Benson made relatively light work of their opponents only dropping one games between them. Benson in particular really showing his calibre against a tough opponent.
Miles went down in his singles, while Barry played a fierce competitor in a young Brazilian with thighs like his counterpart Roberto Carlos. Barry however kept his composure against a player with a huge forehand and dispatched him 6-2.
Leading 3-1 going into the doubles the match was by no means over. Benson and Miles fought hard, but lost 4-6 against the Millfield second and third placed players. Barry and Rident combined well however to win 6-2 and confirm BWS progression in the last 16 for the first time.
The boys rightly so were over the moon with the performance and now were just one match from Nationals at Bolton.
A fantastic win against a very worthy opponent.
